Chappellet Vineyards in the Pritchard Hill region of Napa Valley is legendary for its outstanding Cab-based wines and their Mountain Cuvee is their affordable red blend made to be drunk while waiting for the big boys to come around. This 2022 uses grapes from the Chappellet estate in addition to other prime vineyards in Napa and Sonoma. It's a Bordeaux style blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot, 14% Merlot, 12% Malbec and 5% Cabernet Franc the result is a complex array of aromas and flavors that deliver pure pleasure in a glass.
This beautifully aromatic wine leaps out of the glass with concentrated notes of red currant, boysenberry, cassis, roasted coffee and dark chocolate, along with savory undertones and notions of sweet oak. On the palate it is rich and mouthcoating, with a seamless texture and supple tannins framing luxurious layers of dark berry fruit, barrel spice and fresh herbs.
