A Bordeaux Superieur with Ripe, Juicy Fruit Flavors

The Chateau Peyfaures Bordeaux Superieur property was first founded in the year 1830 in Genissac, to the east of Entre-deux-Mers, across the Dordogne River from the appellations of Pomerol and Saint-Emilion. Here, the vines grow in a clay-limestone terroir and are treated by the viticultural team with biodynamic and organic practices. This Bordeaux Superieur seeks to return to a traditional winemaking style, popular in Bordeaux before the arrival of modern practices. After hand-picking, the grapes get crushed in a traditional basket press. Spontaneous fermentation then happens with 100% naturally occurring yeasts. The team's minimal intervention, parcel-by-parcel practices provides a way for the vineyard to truly shine. The Chateau Peyfaures Dame de Coeur is the estate's prestige cuvée, produced from a very impressive old block of Merlot, which is blended with Cabernet Franc. This vintage is aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak barrels with full malolactic fermentation occurring in the barrel.

The Dame de Coeur du Chateau Peyfaures 2015 contains a blend of 90% Merlot from old vines with 10% Cabernet Franc. The Cabernet Franc here lends a gravelly minerality to round out the ample, fruit-forward Merlot. In the glass, the 2015 vintage of the Chateau Peyfaures Dame de Coeur presents a dark purple color. This is an especially rich wine with a dense structure and a velvet-smooth texture. Its palate is ripe and juicy, with concentrated blackcurrant flavors. Drink from 2023 onwards
