“This Syrah hails from the River Rock Vineyard in The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater AVA, a sub-AVA of Walla Walla that sits on the Northern-most edge of Oregon. Planted in the rocky, alluvial soils deposited at the base of the Blue Mountains, the vineyards in this AVA essentially grow in an ancient river bed.

The grapes were hand-picked and placed as whole bunches into a single tank. Gentle wetting of the cap mixed with foot-treading liberated the juice from within its thick skins. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in 50% terracotta and 50% in oak barrels. Bottled unfined and unfiltered after 16 months élevage.

This Syrah shows the rich blueberry and savory spice for which this region is known.
