Cantine Madaudo Barone di Bernaj Nerello Mascalese
Rosario Madaudo’s family began making wine back in 1945, when his great-great grandfather began working his first vines on a small farm in Villafranca Tirrena, a small coastal commune in northeast Sicily. Now a full on family affair in its 4th generation, the estate cultivates and produces a number of varietals from their vineyards in both Sambuca di Sicilia and the north slope of Mt. Etna.
This Nerello Mascalese is both well-structured and lively, with refined tannins and bright notes of cherry and dark plum. Subtle notes of warm spices and desert herbs are met with a rustic earthy note. Elegant and easy drinking, but give this bottle around 15 minutes of air to really open up.
