GRAPE VARIETY: Blaufränkisch
APPELLATION: Leithaberg DAC
DESCRIPTION: Blaufränkisch from Leithaberg is one of the world's great indigenous wines. Spice, fine tannin structure and red berry fruit together with high aging potential combine to create a red wine of international stature.
VINIFICATION: Selective hand-picking from organically managed vineyards, partly spontaneous, very gentle fermentation in 500-litre tonneaus and careful maturation for one year in the 300-year-old cellars of the Hofkellerei create a wine of unique structure.
LOCATION: The Blaufränkisch Leithaberg DAC comes from what are probably the best Burgundy vineyards in St. Margarethen and Breitenbrunn. Their high shell limestone and quartz content give the wine finesse and elegance and that certain spicy something. The nearby Neusiedlersee reflects sunlight onto the gentle slopes and thus ensures that this premium Blaufränkisch ripens at the right time
