Flaneur La Belle Promenade Chardonnay
The La Belle Promenade Chardonnay is a unique portrait of our Chehalem Mountains Estate Vineyard each year. By design, it has the most symmetry, balancing the mineral, saline, and lemon-like tones of the rocky sections of the vineyard with just enough of the richness from the decomposed sections of soil. Consequently, this Chardonnay consistently reflects the vineyard’s balance year after year.
Tasting Notes
This wine transports us to a vibrant pastry bakery, where the intoxicating scents of powdered sugar and brûléed marshmallow mingle with alluring notes of pie spice and the enchantment of blooming spring florals and jasmine tea. Flavors of luscious yellow orchard fruits, and tangy mandarin intertwine seamlessly rich golden honey. Racy acidity paves the way to a captivating roundness and nutty complexity that will only add to personality with age.
Vineyard Information
La Belle Promenade Vineyard lies within the Chehalem Mountains AVA. Established in 2014 on the site of a former cherry orchard, this 40-acre estate was envisioned by owner Marty Doerschlag as a place to farm world-class wines. The vineyard sits between 750–850 feet in elevation along the western slope, rooted in basalt-derived volcanic soils of varying depth. Its undulating terrain creates a range of sun exposures, shaping the distinct character of each block. The soils retain moisture exceptionally well, supporting dry-farming and balanced vine growth. Farmed in-house using organic principles, the vineyard consistently yields fruit defined by plush texture, floral aromatics, and vibrant acidity.
