Marqués de Riscal didn't just make a great white — they helped invent the category.In 1858 Riscal became the first winery in Rioja to produce wines following the Bordeaux method, and in 1972 it was the first winery to promote the Rueda Designation of Origin, where it produced its famous Marqués de Riscal white wines. They recognised an area with the soils, climate and grape — Verdejo — to produce fresh, balanced white wines.

Today it's certified organic and made with a light touch: a 100% organic wine from Riscal's estate vineyards, crafted with minimal intervention, showing the classic aromatic intensity and bright acidity of the variety. This bottling has been organically certified since 2018.

Tasting notes

• Colour: bright, straw yellow
• Nose: high-toned aromas of fennel, white flowers and hints of aniseed and fresh grass, lifted by citrus and tropical fruit
• Palate: smooth and fresh, with a persistent finish that is long and pleasant, typical of the variety
• Finish: dry, with the gently bitter almond twist that marks true Verdejo
