Sweet Cheeks Syrah
Mixed red fruits, along with a lot of vanilla, which seems typical of the winery's reds, are carried along on a smooth rush of cream and coffee. The wine spent 20 months in all new oak, mostly American, a departure from many producers who use no new oak at all in their Syrahs. It's a style that will sharply divide consumers depending on their palate preferences. — Paul Gregutt
