Domaines Leflaive Mâcon-Verzé
“The Domaine Leflaive Mâcon-Verzé vineyards sit on a western-facing slope with calcareous clay soils with limestone and marl. Domaine Leflaive purchased five parcels of mature Chardonnay in this appellation in 2004 and has cultivated everything biodynamically since the very first year of acquisition.
The 2021 Leflaive Mâcon-Verzé was fermented and aged for 10 months in concrete and oak, then for an additional six months in stainless steel. The result is a pure and expressive wine. Floral and mineral aromas leap out of the glass, while fruity notes of lemon, pear and orange peel round out the nose. The palate is energetic and round, with plenty of minerality and acidity. It is a balanced wine, with fruity notes of pear, apple and a touch of spice for a layered complexity.”
