Gilbert Cellars Cabernet Franc
From the heart of Washington State’s Horse Heaven Hills (Alder Ridge vineyard), Gilbert Cellars Cabernet Franc is an elegant, expressive red that captures the duality of power and finesse. The Gilbert family (Sean, Nate, and later Laura Rankin) founded the winery in 2004, and have maintained a focus on site expression and careful winemaking.
This Cabernet Franc displays an aromatic lift of violet, dried herbs, and subtle graphite. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with dark plum, crushed black cherry, and savory herbal character. The tannins are fine yet present, providing structure without overwhelming. A thread of minerality and a savory finish bring balance and length. The wine is named after its varietal, but at this quality it functions as a compelling stand-alone Cabernet Franc.
