J. de Villebois Sancerre 2024
Why we love it
J. de Villebois nails the classic Loire profile in 2024: citrus and stone fruit up front, a laser‑cut mineral line, and a finish that’s clean, dry, and refreshing. If you’ve been waiting for a quintessential Sancerre to stock the fridge, this is it.
Tasting notes
Lemon zest, pink grapefruit, gooseberry, white peach, and hints of verbena and wet stone. Dry and zippy, with a fine, saline snap on the finish.
Winemaking & origin
From the hills of Sancerre AOC (Loire Valley) on limestone/clay and silex (flint) soils. 100% Sauvignon Blanc, cold‑fermented in stainless steel to preserve aromatics; time on fine lees for texture and length. (ABV listed on bottle; typical Sancerre ~12–13%.) Vegan‑friendly; contains sulfites.
Food pairings
Crottin de Chavignol (goat cheese), oysters, shrimp cocktail, sushi, roast chicken with herbs, spring salads, asparagus, and fresh chèvre tart.
Serving & cellaring
Serve 45–50°F in a white‑wine stem. Delightful now; best 2025–2028 for peak vibrancy.
