Calabria's Crown Jewel — A Bold Southern Italian Icon
Librandi's Gravello is widely regarded as one of southern Italy's greatest red wines, and the 2016 vintage is a stunning example of why. Produced in the Val di Neto IGT zone of Calabria — Italy's sun-scorched toe — this powerful blend of Gaglioppo and Cabernet Sauvignon marries indigenous character with international structure in a way that is wholly unique.
Deep ruby-garnet in the glass, Gravello opens with an intense and complex nose of ripe black cherry, blackcurrant, and dried plum, layered with notes of tobacco, dark chocolate, Mediterranean spice, and a hint of vanilla from careful oak aging. On the palate it's bold and commanding — dense, velvety tannins, full body, and a long, warming finish that lingers with flavors of dark fruit, espresso, and earthy minerality.
A wine that rewards patience and demands attention — equally at home in the cellar or at the center of a memorable dinner table.
